SoCal Karate Athlete Award Goals
Encourage top SoCal Athletes to compete int USA National Karate Federation National Elite Categories, and if successful compete on the USA Karate National Team.
Athlete Awards are meant to help offset tournament expenses for competing in USA Karate Elite Categories.
Program Process
To be eligible for the Athlete Awards, a competitor must
Attend the SoCal Karate National Prep Tournament and compete in an elite category.
Competitors must attend the USA National Championships, compete and medal in an elite category.
SoCal Karate, prior to the SoCal Karate National Prep Tournament, will determine how much money will be set aside for the Athlete Awards total prize awards.
Athletes will accrue points at USA National Championships based upon their earned medals in kata and kumite in individual elite categories. Gold medals earn 5 points, silver 3 points, bronze 1 point.
Competitors earn points in individual elite kata and/or kumite categories only.
The total number of points earned by all medaling competitors will be divided into the total prize awards amount. This provides a dollar value per point. Each elite medalist will have their points multiplied by the dollar value which results in the total dollars he/she will be awarded.
Program Requirements
Each competitor will sign an agreement on the program requirements at the SoCal Karate National Prep Tournament..
Each competitor in an elite category will agree to wear a SoCal Karate patch on their karate gi right sleeve indicating sponsorship at USA Open/JIC and USANKF Nationals.
Competitors who win award money agree to wear the SoCal Karate patch on their gi for one year.
Competitors agree to SoCal Karate using their name and photo for marketing and sponsorship drives.
